A Repudiation of Cowardice

Trump’s reelection was one for the ages, but I don’t think it had anything to do with his policies, much of which I agree on, some of which is just plain silly.  He won because the American people repudiated the democrat party, Harris, Biden, Schumer, all of them.  The numbers don’t qualify as a landslide, but it sure feels like it.

To pinpoint one view I hold rather than point to the tit for tat of what-about-ism, let’s start with the premise that all politicians are bullies, which means they are all cowards.  They just can’t show cowardice.

Harris’ reluctance to throw herself out there in interviews and unscripted dialogue during the campaign was cowardice.  Not choosing Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro was both weak and stupid.  Her not telling the public how she voted on California Proposition 36, an effort to increase criminal accountability and penalties that ultimately passed with better than a 70% plurality, was the icing on the cake.

Presidents can be awful, but they need a backbone.  She didn’t show it even while the media tried to provide one.

Her reluctance to show some guts was shameless.  We all saw it.  From not taking questions to unskillful editing on 60 Minutes. The problem with the insulated class is that they think they are invisible.

She was afraid to explain things.  She switched her entire career arc with Trump-lite suggestions, finishing each change with “you know my values.”  She did not want to rock the boat or offend anyone, except Catholics, pro-lifers, and toxic masculinity. Calling opponents Hitlerian and fascists or worse does not take audacity.

At least Trump has the courage of his convictions.

This transition will be interesting.  Trump did a criminally terrible job of it last time.

Read Michael Lewis’ book THE FIFTH RISK.  It’ s not long and should take a couple hours.  The ripple of not being prepared back in ’16 and ’17 was felt throughout his entire term.

My first suggestion for Donnie?  Pardon everybody.  Clintons, Bidens, all politicos.  Clean the slate and take the high ground.  The Dems’ heads will explode but they deserve the embarrassment.  Be selective in pardoning January 6-ers.  Those who committed violence should not be rewarded, but clemency for them is in order if they have served time.

As to Harris’ concession speech, I am biased but I thought it was ungracious.  She did not go far enough asking for unity, imploring her people to “keep up the fight.”  And our nation is facing a “dark time?”  Where the heck did that come from?

Last, she and her boss and the democrat establishment and especially the media have a lot of ‘splaining to do about numbers… which will be my next post on Saturday afternoon.

I am delighted that the democrats’ collective cowardice has been repudiated, by the people.  Convincingly.

Peace. Out.
